Artist's Journey
Alicia Dordelly is a contemporary artist whose work serves as a tactile bridge between the ethereal and the grounded. Characterized by a style she describes as "contemporáneo expresivo con alma orgánica" (expressive contemporary with an organic soul), her paintings are a visceral exploration of the human experience and emotion, captured through layers of dense texture and a sophisticated, atmospheric palette.
Her work is rooted in the concept of "Invisible Shaping" - the idea that our identities are carved by experiences, rhythms, and bonds that remain powerful even when they are no longer tangible. This theme is most potently explored in her recent series on motherhood, where she uses rhythmic and wave-like textures to symbolize the waves in the womb or the breastfeeding journey and the haze of this moment in time.
A master of the impasto technique, Alicia Dordelly paints from the heart, moved by the sensitivity in human nature. Her compositions often feature a dynamic tension of two truths, there is softness in hardship, and vice versa. There is silence in space, and noise in texture.
Currently focusing on large-scale commissioned pieces and international submissions, including the prestigious Venice Crea Open, Alicia Dordelly continues to investigate the "Soulful Gravity" of the bonds that anchor us, creating art that does not just decorate a space, but breathes life and memory into it.
